MERN Stack Engineer

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Web Engineer with 3-5 years of professional experience and strong expertise in MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript. You will own features from requirement clarification and technical design through development, testing and release. The role involves making sound engineering decisions, improving application quality and performance, and supporting fellow developers through code reviews and technical guidance.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain full-stack web applications using the MERN stack.
Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions and realistic effort estimates.
Build reusable React components, responsive interfaces and secure, well-structured REST APIs.
Design SQL and MongoDB schemas; optimize queries, aggregation pipelines and indexes.
Troubleshoot production issues and improve performance, security and reliability.
Write automated tests, review code and maintain clear technical documentation.
Collaborate with designers, QA engineers and project leads to deliver thoroughly tested features.
Guide junior developers and contribute to architecture and development practices.

Required Skills

3-5 years of professional web development experience, including production delivery using MERN.
Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills: asynchronous programming, error handling and maintainable code design.
React.js, hooks, routing, component architecture and state management using Context, Redux Toolkit or similar approaches.
Node.js and Express.js: API design, middleware, validation, authentication, authorization and third-party integrations.
SQL/MongoDB data modelling, aggregation, indexing and query optimization.
HTML, CSS, responsive design and accessibility fundamentals.
Application architecture, data structures and common performance bottlenecks.
Secure development practices and protection of credentials and sensitive data.
Debugging across frontend, backend and database layers.
Git, branching, pull requests and code reviews.
Independent feature ownership, communication of technical trade-offs and early risk escalation.
Hands-on cloud deployments (Azure/AWS/GCP), Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar tools.
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Good to Have

Next.js, caching, background jobs or real-time applications.
Experience mentoring developers and contributing to technical design decisions.
